Cooking magazines are now my go-to flying companion; if I can just dream of all the things I'll make when the flight is over, it really does become more bearable.

And I hope that sour cherry slump has brightened up your weekend! :)Katyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04290135991797809997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4031121890854604877.post-37524425551388598482012-07-29T21:46:01.909-07:002012-07-29T21:46:01.909-07:00Jess, thanks for the vote of confidence and for sh...Jess, thanks for the vote of confidence and for sharing your own wisdom about working in the summer! It's always nice to hear a voice from the other side...

I think I prefer revising, too; I simply feel more comfortable when I have something to work with. It's the blank page and the blinking cursor that make me feel the most doubt.

And thanks! The slump, despite the name, has been good to me. :) I definitely feel more inspired now (blueberries and all their anti-oxidants).Katyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04290135991797809997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4031121890854604877.post-88324582257813515002012-07-29T21:42:40.827-07:002012-07-29T21:42:40.827-07:00Yes, Ann, yes it is! And I think it's also why I've turned to cooking in recent years; it really does improve my mood and, most probably, my writing.

I still find grey hairs, though. I guess they're just an occupational hazard.Katyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04290135991797809997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4031121890854604877.post-78398505956168666012012-07-29T21:41:10.232-07:002012-07-29T21:41:10.232-07:00Oh, Karina, thank you! And, yes, here's to hoping for better weather and for the dissertation-less life (for the most part, I've given up reading lots and lots of new material; not much has been written on certain things I'm working on and, more importantly, these days it seems better just to write and then go back and read. It keeps me from feeling bogged down)!

And if/when you make this, I hope you enjoy it! I also think whole wheat biscuits would work really well here--and that ice cream or whipped, as always, can only improve things.Katyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04290135991797809997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4031121890854604877.post-46237657560686022912012-07-25T09:11:18.607-07:002012-07-25T09:11:18.607-07:00This looks delicious, Katy -- and such a true spir...This looks delicious, Katy -- and such a true spirit-lifter! I can relate to the inspiration from a cooking magazine, and I so commend you for managing to feel inspired on a long flight!
And while we're on the topic of inspiration, you have inspired me to try the sour cherry slump recipe I've had for years, chuckling at the name, but have never gotten around to making.Moriahhttp://buttersugarflowers.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4031121890854604877.post-24645642460873023062012-07-25T06:45:58.112-07:002012-07-25T06:45:58.112-07:00What an apt quote. I enjoy revising/re-reading/clarifying/editing - well, maybe not enjoy....I don't hate those stages as much;). You will finish, and it will feel awesome. And you will be extremely proud of yourself. And, just so you don't feel so bad, I never do my best work in the Summer. Even though I have more time, I always find ways to waste it when the days are long and the streets are hot;). The beginning of a chapter (well, when the reading is done and the writing must really begin) is always the hardest part. I think some amount of suffering is just non-negotiable there, and anything that can assuage it is more than welcome! This looks like a perfect summer treat...I may try it with strwaberries or peaches. I am so sad that the cherry crop was killed by frost this year. here's hoping for better weather next year!Krugthethinkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06216398915236885253noreply@blogger.com
